Firsts: Family Photoshoot

Towards the end of summer in Göteborg, I had tried my hands on landscape and cityscape photography. Now, I wanted to experiment with family portrait photography.  I found a willing and eager subject in my friends and their adorable 6-month-old son.

I scouted for a few locations within the city and settled on Slottsskogen Park. On the day of the shoot, the weather was ideal, and the sun was on my side.

I started first with the baby. He was adorable but tough to work with. I found that children constantly move and get a distracted very easily. While I was covering the baby, the parents did a great job of engaging him with some toys and hand gestures.

I found that right moment when he smiled at his favourite toy.

The expression says it all!

I also wanted to capture some family portraits for them to frame and keep as memory. We tried different positions, at different spots within Slottsskogen Park. It was a challenging task to find the right posture and ensure that the picture is well balanced. I wanted the picture to look natural and candid.
